An example of the generously of the community is this piano donated by the Taylor family. Arthur Taylor came to Rhinelander in 1891 and started the local Coke bottling plant. It was actually one of the first Coke franchises in the state of Wisconsin. His daughter-in-law donated the piano and they also donated $10,000 that we put into an endowment and we use the interest for maintenance on the piano. We have it tuned annually even though it's only used a couple of times a year. We typically have a Christmas Open House where local musicians will come in and take a shift singing Christmas carols. In the past we also hosted a Violin Recital and the piano is used to accompany the violinist. The violinist really liked to perform here because he loved the acoustics of the house.

Piano
Donated by the Taylor Family, the piano is tuned every year and used for occasions like the Holiday Open House and special concerts. Everything on display at the Museum was donated by area residents or family members of former residents. While the piano represents the higher end of donated items, whether it is something like this, or an old period correct book, all are appreciated and help add to the period of history the Museum represents.
